About Us

​

As Lehtola children, our dad was a local carpenter, working for Great Plains Supply building engineered trusses and homes until Great Plains went out of business. In the early 1980’s, dad (Laverne Lehtola) formed his own business and continued to work as a carpenter, building homes, pole buildings and garages, and remodeling, primarily within a 50-mile radius of Hamlin county. Through this life, we became familiar with the basic principles and values of work ethics, honesty and trust.

Throughout our growing-up years, we did not always work for Dad. We worked, for some years, on a very progressive and diversified grain and livestock farm, learning many things about equipment and the atmosphere of business. These early experiences, as well as teachings alongside of the Holy Bible, shaped the lives of Lorin and Kurt Lehtola. We were fortunate to have been brought up to work hard, be honest and fair to all, treat others with respect, and to always endeavor to have self-knowledge. We have tried to manage our business with these same principles and values.

In June of 2001, Lorin and Kurt, with their Dad’s encouragement, formed the business Lehtola Builders, Inc. Laverne retired in 2008.

​

In 2015, Kurt redeemed his business shares in order to pursue further business interests with his sons. Lorin, as sole-owner, is working to include his owns sons in the business.

​

Today, we continue to strive to meet our customers' needs of structural concrete, residential and commercial concrete, agricultural buildings and structures, steel commercial buildings and light industrial buildings. Most of our building projects involve design-build applications, which we enjoy. We have worked with several engineering and architectural firms and we aim to recognize and promote a healthy relationship with them.

We are an authorized Behlen Building Systems Builder, which has been a great companion of our company.
